My furniture practice centers on honest treatment of material and a balance of stability and motion. In my work, the material guides me to understand the limits of my designs. The principles of motion, tension, balance, and an integrity of material and process are employed.
The use of an object is not a frozen frame; it is a dynamic event in time. My furniture is imbued with the ability to move with the user; a chair or a table can be ridden or piloted. The user defines the level of interaction, and this creates the opportunity for the furniture to function outside and above the normal reach of its design.
